The Lost Flower Children
lol this is my second review. i still want to find out if the counter charm worked and if the lady was the silent child so please make a second 1 The book was ok but i really wanted to know what would happen so can u write another? ur the best author in the world make a second flower children I LOVED THE BOOK. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!make a second flower children this book is awsome plz make another lost flower children about the counter charm i loved it soooooooooooooooooo much my teacher read it to us we really liked it I really enjoyed this book! as a student in school I look forward to reading more of your boooks ! plz plz plz plz make more ur awsom My 9yr old daughter & a classmate loved this book, and hand wrote you a letter with questions about it. I was hoping to scan it and email it to you, or send it by post. Is there an email or postal address I might use for this? The girls are very anxious to share their thoughts with you if it is possible. Thank you very much. R.J.F.a.k.a. Abby's Daddy I think this was a satisfiying book of lost teacups and children waiting to be found. The charecters seem to jump off the page and bring you into the book yourself, because it is so well detailed but not boring at all. Reading this book is a good way to spend you time!!!!!!! I wanna be a Flower Child! Dear Janet,I think your book is very good. If I could rate it 1 to 10 it would be a 10! I hope there is a sequel to it. I loved the book, because it was so magical!!!!! I read the book in one day almost nonstop!!! The way it ended makes me think there might be a sequel to it...is there???I'm just dying for more!!! I love how you have made Olivia and Nellie's visit into a mystery. And how they found out about a mystery by reading a fantasy book and finding out that it was true. I really liked how they had to find the cups and teapot. Some chapters made me want to hear more and more chapters. I really got into the book when they found the first cup. I think it is weird that Nellie has a lot of rules. I really recommend this book and AUTHOR.ALL HER BOOKS ARE GREAT. I am an adult and former nursery school teacher. I was extremely disturbed by the scene in "Lost Flower Children" when Nellie throws rocks at Olivia and another girl. My son lost his right eye in an accident last summer, and I know it takes only a second for someone to lose an eye or be gravely injured -- even killed -- in a moment of thoughtlessness. Everyone worried more about Nellie's feelings getting hurt than about the fact that she could have killed or blinded one of those girls. Throwing rocks (or violence of any kind) is NEVER acceptable -- even if your mother has just died, even if you are angry.

I am a teenage girl and one of my teachers made me read this book. when i began to read it was boring but as i read on i began to love it. I was extremely disturbed by the scene in "Lost Flower Children" when Nellie throws rocks at Olivia and another girl. Everyone worried more about Nellie's feelings getting hurt than about the fact that she could have killed or blinded one of those girls. Throwing rocks (or violence of any kind) is NEVER acceptable-- even if your mother has just died, even if you are angry. It was so stupid of the lady that kept brakin the rules that the little girl came up with. I even say if that was me in the book i would of told that little girl something like: this is not your house to be screaming at me like that when i broke the rules,it's my house and i'll do what i want. but i love the book "The Lost Flower Children"

Motherless Olivia and her sister Nellie
go to stay at their Aunt Minty's house

story that there were children who
turned into flowers and if you put the

in the garden they will come back to

The Lost Flower Children was a book that inspired me (in 5th grade) to read a lot more than I was before. After I read the book, I told some people in my class about it & they went and read the book and liked it alot too! Janet Taylor Lisle is one of my top 2 favorite authors. E.B. White is my other one. I advise you to read the book if you already haven't.

I enjoyed The Lost Flower Children. I think it is cool how Olivia finds the story in a story book and even though it doesn't say if Aunt Minty is the smallest child, I think she was. I think it is funny how at the very end, Aunt Minty finds the real teapot. I hope that the lost flower children really do come back and that the party goes on. I think that Nellie is hilarious with her "golden rules". I like Aunt Minty with her straw hat. Overall The Lost Flower Children is a good book.

Some of the grade 6 class read your book. We thought that it was very good. We liked how the girls found all the cups but not the real teapot until the end. We did not like how the book ended because it never ever told whether or not the lost flower children were found. We think that there should be another book to tell what happened afterward.

hello my name is stephanie when I was in 4th grade we had a battle of the books competition and I thought i wasn't going to enjoy itbut after I read the story I think I read it over again because it gave so much enthusiasm and fun and it was funny too. i am now 12 and me and my mom got into a fight. i let her borrow 5 of my books and the lost flower children was one of them. she just picked it up yesterday and we finshed it tonight. she is 48 and she loved it too. she even is wondering if you're going to write a second book? and so am I. I think she enjoyed the book so much that it is one of her favorite books. what i mean is if a grownup reads it then you have to be doing something right and if a grownup liked it then you're a fab author. write??????

My mom read this to me.
It was a very good book. I liked it because Olivia is the same age as I am. My mom had a very hard time just reading 1 chapter at a time!
MY mother writes too.
I love that the tea cups were right in front of them, all they had to do is find them.! Will there be another lost flower children book?
The ending sounded like there could be.
Thank you!

I read your book at first and thought it was a little childish.(I am in the 7th grade and 12 years old.) But then when I finished I thought it was great for all ages. Well, I read a lot of the other responses and I think you wouldn't write a 2nd book because that would make the 1st one not as magical and great. Please don't write a 2nd. It would make you not think and imagine the ending. That is what makes the story special. Thanks for making time to read this.

I just finished reading the book "The Lost Flower Children". From the moment I picked it up and let my eyes feast on its contents I could not put it down. No matter how tired I was I just kept reading. It told about two young aged girls
trying to find eight tulip shaped cups and a pitcher to match to break the evil green-skins spell on the Flower Children. I won't give away any more of this wonderful tale. I'll leave it to you to read and be put through the grand experience that i also shared.

I really loved your book! It was a mystrey (which I don'tnormally like), but it was so magical and interesting! I was just a little disappointed that the first teapot they found wasn't the real one. I began to doubt the storyin the was true because through out the whole book except for this part I belived 110% that the story was true and that the children would come back to life. I also was disappointed when the party downstairs that Oliva heard was only the neighborhood kids and not the Lost Flower Children. This book kept me interested through out the whole book. I really enjoyed reading your book!
P.S. A sequel may be a good idea!!:-) ;-)

Aunt Minty's house while their

When they go up they find a book. They read the book and start to think it's real.Theythink that Auant Minty is the

isn't the same.So they look for the real one and find it

At least you shouldwrite what happens when they find the tea cup.I mean what if the charm does notwork? And maybe the dad might not even get a job. "Glory!", said Aunt Minty. "I've struck something here." Everyonelooked. It was the teapot! They rearranged the table and put the teapot on itand the flowers began to rustle. While in the library one dayI found The Lost Flower Children on the shelf and while I was planning on gettingone of your books out it was there and I took it out and am very glad I did.As I have read your comments from other readers I am very much in agreement withthem you should really write a sequel to this book as it is a tale within a taleand very worth while reading. I passed this book on to my 10 year old to readand told her how good it was and mentioned it to two of my friends. That is howmuch I enjoyed this book. As you can well guess I will be checking out otherbooks written by you and truly hope I enjoy them as much as I have this one.Keep up the good work. I really loved reading your book "The Lost FlowerChildren". Because, it is a mystery and I love mystery. I am really gladthat it ended in a good way and that they had the party after all. I realizedat the end that the original Tea Pot that Nellie and Olivia found was placedthere by Aunt Minty and at the end they found the real one.
If I could change one thing about your book it would be the mother dying. Because, that is sad and it's scary to me. I think instead that you could say that Oliviaand Nellie were going to visit their Aunt Minty for the summer while their parentswent off somewhere.

The Lost Flower Children is probably one of the best booksI ever read. I just got through reading it like fifteen minutes ago. Is AuntMinty really the smallest child? I think she was. Where did the other tea potcome from? Maybe the green skins put it there to confuse Aunt Minty. I thinkthe book should have a longer ending. One with a ending like: " The childrenare back home." That's all I have to say.

I love the book and so does my daughter! But the two copieswe bought new in a bookstore seem to be missing some of the last pages: the Barnes&Noblewebsite says the paperback versions have 128 pages but our copies end at 122pages with the end sentence "Glory!" and Aunt Minty. "I've struck something here".We are desperate to know what she found! Author: is there anything after thissentence? Are we indeed missing pages? Help!

I thought The Lost Flower Children was an interesting andmagical book. I read the book for a school summer project, faster than anythingbecause I couldn't put the book down. I actually had to read three of your booksbut The Lost Flower Children was my favorite. I like how you end your books witha question. It makes readers think on and
come to their own conclusions. Even after the three books were completed I wentout and got anoher one of your books.

Ms. Lisle's story within a story about the lost flowerchildren beautifully demonstrates how we can find truth in fantasy and fairytales and use it to help heal ourselves. The world needs stories; we live bystories, and our lives are certainly enriched by the stories that Ms. Lisle soexpertly crafts.

Dear Janet,
I loved how your book was so magical! I felt like I was in a dream. How do youthink up these things, like how the green-skinned fairies hid all the blue chinacups and the teapot?

Dear Janet Taylor Lisle,
I loved how you put so much
detail into your story.I have one question. How do you think up all your ideas, like the way the garden was horseshoe-shaped?With love, Kelsey

This interesting fantasy has
left our third graders at the
North Hampton School with
creative juices to spin a
sequel. Since the discovery
of the right teapot does not
bring all the children back,
we created new ways for the
story to continue. It also
left us with a question about
Aunt Minty and whether she
might have been the child who
saw the transformation and
couldn't talk about it. We
would love to hear from the
author. You may contact us
through our librarian at lsherouse

I loved your book, except the ending was weird. I wantedto know so bad about whether the fairytale was true. Also, you came to my middleschool. You inspired me to write even more, so I'm starting a story about mytwo cats, Shadow and Snickers. Thanks. I'm now starting on Forest. The Lost FlowerChildren was soooo good that I read it in a day and I'm going to read at least3 more of your books..

I am Elsbeth's Mom and also read the book. I loved theending and do not need a sequel. It matters not where the cups came from. The "magic" wasin the story, the healing that the girls found in the garden, and the gardenitself. The characters are great and true to life for the troubles they'd encountered.Aunt Minty is wise from her long life's experiences. We will read more by thisauthor.

I read The Lost Flower Children for book club. I likedthe book, but I didn't like the ending. I was hoping I'd find out if Aunt Mintywas the "silent child" and who planted the cups.

Well, I guess I should tell you that I'm 37. But I stilllove books for young readers. I enjoyed "The Lost Flower Children", but was alittle startled by the ending.
I thought that someone had lost the last few chapters of the book. I even askedthe women here at our library if they had found the lost pages.
Then I found your site and now know that is how the book ends. I hope that somedaythere will be another book about Aunt Minty and the Flower Children, I can hardlywait!!! Thanks.

My daughters and I lead a monthly book group for girls. We have 18 members, between ages 8 and 13. Our book for October 2000 is The LostFlower Children.
When we were reading books last winter to determine this year's selections, TheLost Flower Children was an obvious choice, even before we finished reading thebook. We particularly loved the "unspoken tangles" of the story; everything isnot spelled-out for the reader. Our discussion will be rich with "What do youthink?" questions and wonderings.
At each book group meeting, we talk about the book of the month, do a project, and read some poetry that compliments the book. For The Lost Flower ChildrenI chose the poems: "The Pointed People" by Rachel Field and "The Fairies" byRose Fyleman.
At our October meeting, I'll tell the girls about this Web site and encouragethem to enter reviews.

Dear Janet,I just read this with my son. He hung on every word. You did awonderful job incorporating magic and reality. I thought that you had a goodsense of how children think. I hope that there will be more to this story. Itruly did not want it to end. I am passing this onto my 81 year old mother. Ithink she too will enjoy this story. One reviewer mentioned about the rock throwingscene. I thought it was very well done and showed the seriouness of the wholesenerio.Thank you for writing such a good piece of literature for all ages.

The newest book by my Aunt is a really good book. I think my favorite part is the story within the story, the fairy tale called The Lost Flower Children. This book is a somewhat short but good book for pretty much everybody. Read it and see why!

What I think happens in the end is that the flower children really do come back to life because their cups are in the garden and I think Aunt Minty finds the real tea pot. This is a really good book. I like the part where you can read the story that comes to life in Aunt Minty's garden (called The Lost Flower Children).
