Afternoon of the
Elves Inspires a Song
Canadian Clare Morgan, a contemporary Celtic harpist who lives and teaches Vancouver, has composed several haunting songs inspired by Sara-Kate’s story in AFTERNOON OF THE ELVES.

She writes: “Afternoon of the Elves was one of the first chapter books I ever read. It’s my absolute favorite children’s book. I was one of the few kids who didn’t mind the ‘minor chord’ at the end.”

Clare Morgan grew up in Vancouver and began to study harp in 2001, subsequently building a large Celtic and classical repertoire. She received a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria in 2007. During her third year of study, she participated in an exchange program with the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, where she sang and played harp in a rock band called Crosshair. Now back home in Vancouver, Clare teaches Celtic harp at the Celtic Traditions Music School. She is a regular guest on local radio, and has also performed as a street busker, at weddings, funerals, and in solo concerts. She is working to record her first album.
